Got an email from Bloom box energy at this time they are not making systems small enough to power a home. Just commercial units. But they will keep me posted when in the future they become available.

Ben, I've been following your offgrider design and have a couple of suggestions / questions.
1) Is there anyway to hook up a heat exchanger to supplement heating in the winter? What about water, could you pipe water through the system for hot water needs? Seems there is a lot of heat generated, why not use it?
2) What is the average burn time for the 2010 model and what's the average downtime in between charges / ash removal / maintenance?
Great design Ben, your a…

What to do with those small lousy wood chips that tend to plug up gasifiers?
This is a gasifier design that I have been kicking around in my head out in the shop. It makes use of low quality chips.

Could this be the energy break through we have been looking for? Bloom Energy has apparently perfected the solid oxide fuel cell for use on both natural gas and biogas. This type of fuel cell is compatible with syngas as well.

I just deleted two more "internet marketers" and I use the term loosely. I don't know how they find us, but they do and they never send me any spam, so I need your help to identify these losers and delete them. If you are getting spam comments or messages, then don't hesitate to let us know.

I am about 80 % completed builing my gasifier, based on the FEMA design, but with a 1 inch air nozzell added to the combustion zone. THis should increase the temperature and prevent tar problems.
I will be initially using it to power a small (3 kva) generator set.
How far from the combustion chamber can I cange the pipe to plastic. Ie when does the temp fall low enough to use plastic pipe?
Regards to all

I am just preparing my game plan for my first boiler. Does anyone have any pictures or advise on one they have built? I want to make a small generator run off syngas is my forst goal which is pretty big to me. The penical is to have a steam engine run a generator and heat my home. That is way over my head now, but hey we all had to crawl before w e walk .
Anyway i was just curious if anyone built one primary for steam instead of syngas?

Andy :
There is a lot of history abour burning Manure.
Early Homesteaders burned Cow Patties for heat as do millions of others even now in developing countries.
Heat value when dry will be at least 8500 btu / lb.
There's heat in that &$%@

HI
I am new to this gasification process but can see the potenial of this process. I want to try to use this
process to heat my hot water/home but would like to do it myself like the members on this site.
I like the low emission and how it extracts so much engery from it fuel. Could any members help me
diagrams/advise in producing this.
Thanks

There are some sites with videos that are amazing in their simplicity .. and the equipment is compact.
I was talking to a fellow in Northern Ontario over the last year that seems to be doing what you are.
He goes in the bush after it's been selectively cut and grinds up the tops and scrap.
He actually gets paid to do that and ends up with the…
