Hi Steve,
Thanks for the confirmation of the "R" value. You are correct, build one, run it for experience and fine tune.
My first FEMA did produce a self sustaining flare on the first try but 3 subsequent tries produced a gas that would only burn if I held a torch to it. Lots of water! I thought the fire wasn't hot enough so I upped the pressure in the air ejector to no avail. Then I thought I'm pulling air through a 6 inch(28.65 sq ins) tube versus pulling air through 5 nozzles( total area .98 sq ins). Yes, my FEMA had no zone control as I watched the fire climb up the fire tube and my flare die out after 40 or so minutes, but what a great 40 mins it was!
I checked out Stig-Erik Werner's site and have taken his experience and numbers into account as I build my imbert. I really liked the Canada trip photos.
I like Adam's unit(seems straight forward) and since I have small(11.75") and large(14.75") propane tanks I will build using Table 5-2 Imbert Nozzle and Hearth Dimensions, line E.
Off to the shop! Key you later. Pepe
Hi Steve,
If You get a minute please take a look at My revised plan. I've made alot of changes and I think that I'll get more posative feedback on this
Thanks, Steve.
Steve, Thanks for the input. It seems that I have quite a few issues to address with My plan, but thats OK. I've only been studying gasification for about a month and this is My first attempt. I'll be going back to the Books for a while before I get back to the drawing board and revise the plan. I need to dig deeper into this before I start making changes without knowing why.
Well I would reason that whatever you make at home costs you less becouse you dont have to pay for it. But that depends on how much free time you have, or put more time on something that you do well, and maybe buy that from someone who makes it cheaper or better.
Politics and everything else exists just becouse there are so many people. Living on your own surely doesnt require any of that. Still, civilization is something that has brought us out of the caves in the first place.
Steve, I'm still learning to navigate through this site. I'm not sure how to email you about the XXX design, but I have lots of hands on experience with it and think I see many design flaws. My personal email is johnblount448@hotmail.com. I'm happy to say that I had one whole day of successful generating yesterday with my little portable generator. I can see that it is not the best engine choice.
Our megabucks system is almost ready to happen. You might be interested. It comes with a lifetime guarantee and only needs human attention once every 10 hrs. for 24/7 operation. We'll soon find out. It is for a large mill which can afford the investment. I'm more interested in smaller units for poor ass individuals like me. That's why I'm here at Victory. You guys have been a great help.
Good to hear from ya, Steve.
Sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it here for the BBQ. I'm sure there will be another chance for us to get together. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out that way next year for Ben's.
We'll definitly throw a bucket of wood on in you honor.
