One design I would like to try is the Imbert design, with a twist. I want to preheat the incoming air to above the pyrolizing temperature of wood. I believe this would dry the wood and would enable the reactive zone to retain enough heat the crack tars and water molecules. The water would be in the form of steam already disolved in the gasses passing through the hot carbon reactive zone. The idea is that to turn wood into woodgas all you need is heat.
