Asynchronous (Induction) Generator

Anyone have experience using a 3-phase induction motor as Asynchronous (Induction) Generator like the Breezy 5.5 Windmill.......I would like to use a 60hp 3-phase motor Hooked to a engine and a gasifier, to produce 30kw and put it back in to the grid ….should only have to run it 4or 5 days to provide my month supply of electric ……

Cannot believe I never heard of gasification before ……

Through this together over last few days not sure if it is going to work….took ideas from all over the internet….not sure how I am going to make the grate…if any body has any ideas or comments, they would be greatly appreciated .......Plan to have this thing fired up by the weekend.

You can think about things, plan them out …..but until you put the welder to the steel you are not really doing anything!!!…it is better to have done something and failed then to have got around to doing anything…h… Continue

Daniel, I'm having a tough time finding info. on the process of removing the condensation from the top of the fuel hopper. I've noticed that most of the gasifires that work well have a condensate catch but information on this subject seems limited, probably because most of the information that I find on gasifiers is so outdated. How does this work? Any info. will be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve

I'm in the planning and material gathering stage of this adventure at the moment, but I'm looking forward to getting started and will be posting pic's as soon as there is stuff to take pic's of. Planning on keeping these ears as well as My Grandaughter far away from fire.

The wind generator we built as a class at the college, it was the second one we did. This one is 12 volt and at 10mph was running about 360 watts. It peaked over 1kw. Our casting was done poorly so we couldn't get the magnets as close as we should of. This one no longer flies except for demonstrations.
I have a good site at my home and may build a larger one this summer, But I have been interested in gasification for over 10 years now and beleive that would be a better solution for me.
As a side note we are starting a club at school and are going to be building an electric car.

thanks daniel--yes i do have a generator head i bought over the summer-its from harbour freight 10kw brushless--got it on sale for $289 to good a deal to pass up-but still interested in seeing how to convert a 3 ph motor-never know when it will come in handy

The air pressure used will determine alot how hot the cone area gets.
in one video its pretty hot meter reads near 200 deg other video I ran higher air pressure and it was just warm to the touch.
You can make swirl rings out of fired clay and they work great.
Your arc start power isnt important, its your current draw after arc start where your power lays.
The bigger your isolation transformer the more current.
You can lower that size by increasing the voltage frequency to 100 k or better and get a smoother cut not to mention you need filtered DC best you can get.

thanks daniel-i been trying a few different things one of which is a 6 ft tall pvc tower that is filled with charcoal briquets it seems to catch and condense a ton of stuff that used to get by the filters-the other thing i been fooling around with is a terra cotta hearth concreted in place-once hot its really quite efficient--lol i left a copper pipe in there one time for the hell of it and ill bet a few minutes more and it could have melted-there is anouther hearth layin there next to it with 8 jets took it out to try both designs--lol its forever changing
