Compressors and Compression
For FT Synthesis to work, from what some papers state 10atmospheres (147 psi) to 400-450 psi (Further Studies of the Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis Using Gas Recycle Cooling [Hot Gas Recycle Cooling] US Bureau of Mines).
With that being said the compressor must be able to handle very high pressures, on top of that. With such high pressures, the compressor must also be able to handle high temperatures.
One person was thinking about using an AC compressor, and another person thought that they could achieve the 400 psi with a standard air compressor.
My question is: has anybody given the compressor problem any thought? i imagine the AC compressor might be the best, but with out an lubricant in the system I'm not sure how long it will work.
